BWCA Campsite 1468 on Strup

The landing for this campsite is a sloping rock. It is wide enough to parallel park a canoe, and there is a flatter spot where you can get out onto rock or grass, but some parts of the rock are steeper than I would like. The campsite sits on top of the rock, about eight feet above the water and set back a little from the lake. It has a great view across the bay. The weakest part of the site is the tenting. I found two good tent pads, but both are small. One small pad is under a white pine in the main part of camp. Another possible spot is behind the fire grate, and a third small pad is west of the fire grate along a short path near shore under another white pine. The site connects to the Kekekabic Hiking Trail and is used by both hikers and paddlers. There are a couple of white pines near the tent pads and some jack pines in the kitchen area that can provide shade. I like the view and the location, but the small tent pads hold it back.

Sloped rocky landing. Exposed fire grate with no really decent tarp options. Tent pads are not so good. Unless very desperate, I would look for something else. Site is situated for use by hikers as well.
