This site is right along the main channel from Bald Eagle to Gabbro, and as such sees a lot of traffic passing very close by. Due to its orientation it is fairly protected from winds; the site is heavily treed and fairly closed in. Due to its heavy tree cover, the site is very prone to insects during the peak season, but would provide weather protection in other seasons. Taking social trails can get you to other parts of the little peninsula the site is on. The landing area for canoes is not that great, being somewhat sloped with just a little area to wedge canoe in when in the water. Otherwise you have to hoist canoes out. The site has LOTS of tent areas; one could get creative and have even more than the 6 mentioned. Unfortunately with all of the social trails, the toilet is kinda hard to find. Once you know where it is, great, but until then hopefully you don't have any kind of urgent situation when you first get to the site. The kitchen is well protected from the weather and well set up. Overall OK, but not great.

Pretty decent rock slope landing. Lots of trails to explore, nice kitchen area, log seating and several good tent pads all situated in an awesome grove of large cedar and pine trees. If this site was situated just about anywhere else in the BWCA it'd be a no brainer 5* site but, the heavy volume of traffic that parades right past camp on a daily basis is the chink in the proverbial armor.

We enjoyed this campsite for three nights. Used as a base for day trips on Bald Eagle Lake and to Turtle and Clearwater. Good fishing right from shore, especially up the peninsula by the channel. Caught my first fish here! Lots of trumpeter swans and geese in the area. Nice shaded kitchen area, soft and level tent pads. We only had a party of two, but this site could accommodate three tents and a tarped kitchen area, no problem.

Very nice site. It has several vantage points to look out at Bald Eagle. A short walk takes you to the main lake and a view to the east. Enjoyed the lee side for protection from the wind.

This was my favorite campsite of our trip. it was big, it had firewood, it was a pretty site, we were swimming of the east end of the peninsula, which included jumping off of the big rock into the water which was well over 20 feet deep. latrine was pretty good, and there were good tent pads. we never fished from camp, but probably would have caught fish if we did, as it was close to a deep hole.

Beautiful “Cedar Grove” site, with nice red pines scattered about! I spent 7 nights here, solo, late May 2016. The forecast said severe thunderstorms were coming, and they did, more than once that week. The wind protection of the trees was much appreciated. Yes, it would be a hot site in July/August, but early and late season it is ideal. Good little hikes north, south and across the peninsula to the larger body of Bald Eagle Lake. Okay fishing from camp with easy shore fishing access to the south, where I did catch a few small pike and smallmouth. A short hike east to the other side of the peninsula and you can also shore fish a few spots there. The channel to/from Gabbro has current and was a popular fishing spot. I caught a 46” northern in that channel . I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the steady canoe traffic to/from Gabbro and Bald Eagle. Not the most private spot.

The site is set back in a cedar grove but is still open. There is an OK landing on a sloping rock in front of the site. Three good tent pads near the kitchen. There are another two flat, level tent pads, but they are within spitting distance of the latrine, so they are not counted as "good" tent pads. High traffic area as anyone going in or out of Bald Eagle passes by.
