This campsite is basically a large grassy clearing on top of a rock point, raised about seven feet above the water. The fire grate sits almost out on the tip of the point, so it has good views in all directions. There is very little shade, though. It sounds like there may have once been a big tree near the kitchen, but there is not one there now, so the kitchen and main camp area are pretty exposed. Farther back in the woods there are some white pines, but not much shade right in the campsite itself.
The landing is pretty good for one canoe. There are flat rocks either just above or below the water depending on water level, and if you thread the canoe into the narrow gravel area behind those rocks, it works almost like a canoe garage stall.
Even though the campsite is a large grassy field, there are enough rocks poking through the grass that tent pads are more limited than expected. I found two good tent pads and four maximum tent pads.

Main tree next to fire grate has since gone over and been cut back to two 4' stumps, leaning at an angle w/ the ground pulled up around it. Site isn't unusable but it's not very good as a result. We were tired coming from Insula and took a look on Hatchet, very glad we made the portage to Ima and a much much better site.

We stayed here as there was a group already staying in the other site on Hatchet. This site is nicely elevated over the lake. The main tree in camp is looking a little rough, and I wouldn't want to be here in a lightning storm, but this was a nice site for us for the night. The site had great tent pads and an awesome camp kitchen area. Great sunset and great sunrise while we were here. The group enjoyed it.

Great site. Plenty of room for tents. Never saw anybody else on Hatchet for the day or so we were there. Had a fifth tent set up about halfway down path to the latrine. Nice rock ledge overlooking lake, though we decided the water was too shallow to jump off.
