BWCA Campsite 2038 on Knife

The landing for this campsite is a small gravel area. You have to navigate around a couple of large rocks, but otherwise it is okay, and there is some canoe storage down by the landing. The hike up to the site could be muddy, at least based on the conditions when I visited. The kitchen is on top of a rock, raised about eight feet above the water, with a spectacular view down Knife Lake. It is also tucked back in a quiet bay, so you probably will not see many people here. The rock in front of the site makes a great sitting area with a wide view of the bay. A west wind would come right through camp, which could be good for bugs but not ideal in cooler or windier weather. The site itself is long and narrow, with the rock out front, the fire grate behind it, and the shaded tent pad area farther back. I found three good tent pads and five maximum tent pads. There is one good pad in the shaded area behind the fire grate, possible pads to the east and west of the kitchen, and another spot back in the woods near the path from the landing. The site is mostly lined with cedars, with a couple of jack pines mixed in. It is narrow, but it has great views and should provide some solitude on a busy lake.

Campsite of last resort several years ago. Don't recall much about it but found it to be less attractive than most.
