This is a pretty nice campsite, especially since it is the only campsite on Toe Lake. The landing is right in front of the kitchen and is basically the only practical place to land. It is a small sloped inlet where you can pull up the canoe. The kitchen is raised about three or four feet above the water and sits almost right on the shoreline. What makes this site special is the setting under several very tall white pines and mature cedar trees. The pine trees create a pine duff floor throughout the campsite, and the view of the lake is excellent. From the site, you can see almost the entire lake, and you should have the lake to yourself. The biggest downside is the tenting. There is one good tent pad and two maximum tent pads, and even the good one is not perfect. It is a little lumpy and has some roots that could be an issue, especially for a larger tent. With a smaller tent, it should work. This is a small site, but the tall pines and quiet setting give it a great feel.

This is not a site that I would advise planning a trip around by any means but we decided to stay here and it turned out to be a fun site. 1: you have the lake to yourself. 2: there is a very cool climb right behind the site that allows you to get a panoramic view of toe. 3: get a good breeze across the site so there were little bugs. Negative though is the tent pad is at a not so great angle but we made due.

We stopped by this site on our way to Eddy lake, the strong western winds kept us off SAK lake. Only site on the lake is a plus. The water around the site is shallow and weedy. We caught a few small northerns and smallmouth near the site.

Nice, quiet lake in the midst of a busy area. The campsite is a little small, but the extra solitude is worth a quick portage from South Arm.
