BWCA Campsite 2227 on Alworth

This appears to be a newer campsite and may not be shown on some maps. The landing is a narrow opening in the brush, but it is easy enough to pull up the canoe. From there, the campsite sits on a rock ledge about seven feet above the water. There is brush at the bottom of the ledge, but you can still see over it and out onto the lake, and the view is beautiful. A jack pine sits near the edge of the ledge by the kitchen, with a spruce overhanging the kitchen and a large white pine off to the side. Farther back, the surrounding woods are mostly spruce. Most of the campsite is sloped, but behind the kitchen there is one flat area that I would count as the one good tent pad. A second grassy area farther back could hold another tent, though it is a little lumpy. I am calling it one good tent pad and two maximum tent pads. This is a decent campsite on a quiet lake, but the sloped ground limits how much it can handle.
