paddled past here in oct 2026 in bead weather. saw a number of large downed tress near the area of the island where this site was to be located. we did not bother to stop due to this. if anyone can provide an update if this site is still useable that would be great to know for future reference.

I visited this site just to look around while I was camped elsewhere. The first thing I noticed was the strong, pleasant aroma from the young pines growing on the island, almost like fresh cut Christmas trees. There are several decent tent pads with a nice carpet of pine needles in the main camp area. Well-built firepit with log for sitting and a spot away from the fire to set cooking pots or maybe a camp stove. There appears to be trails leading away from the campsite for exploring the island. On a previous trip I saw people camped here catching lake trout in the deep water south and west of this island. I agree with previous poster - on a windy day this spot would be sheltered from the west winds coming down the lake.

Nice open site with large red pines. Rebuilt fire ring with elevated sitting log and a rock preparation table. Position on island will protect from winds out of west.
