Not sure why this site gets a bad rap. Clearly the nicest site on the North side of Minn - especially given the moonscape burned sites. Well-shaded with the tallest pines in the area, albeit a few potential widow-makers. View out of the site is of the burn area, and no good sunrise/set views so that is the biggest downfall. Definitely a wet-foot landing on football-sized rocks. Covered in pine straw, nice big fire pit.
Could see it being buggy in summer, as part of the island is fairly swampy.
All things relative to the area, this is a great site. PP reviewers are P-I-C-K-Y!

decent site. few good pads, couple others that could be used if you're a landscaper or like sliding down a hill in your tent as you sleep. canoe landing is pretty crummy, getting water and doing dishes was not great either. good area for tarps though. Fishing in Minn was fantastic - not much on the N / E portion of the lake, but the W / S portion of the lake was great.

Good takeout on S side of island. Half-fallen tree is probably safe enough, but some care in tent site selection might be prudent
