I didn't love it, but I get why others do. good pads, good firepit, negatives for me: too close to portage/falls, no chance of sunset. great sunrise tho!

As others mentioned, this campsite is large and shows some signs of abuse, likely due to its close proximity to the Duncan EP and Rose Falls. We still enjoyed the site though. I liked listening to the waterfall in the distance as I drifted off to sleep and I appreciated the views, especially looking to the east after sunrise. The location was perfect for our plan to explore the BRT off the Stairway Portage.

Brought my sister here on her very first BWCA trip. It has seen heavy traffic, but it's a nice site with views over the Canadian shore and the sounds of the waterfall permeating the site. I like this one.

Massive, multi-level site that shows unfortunate signs of being a bit overused and abused. There is a ton of bare, heavily compacted soil throughout the site as well as areas of erosion from campers removing stones and trees. We found and removed quite a lot of micro and macro litter throughout the site. Rose falls can be heard from this site which may be welcome white noise to some or irritating to others. The landing is simple with room for canoes to the south side and stone stairs up to the first area. The initial area up from the landing is bigger than some whole sites and has a sheltered tent pad to the south among the trees and good spots for a tarp, clothes line, hammock over the lake... Some larger trees featured in older photos are no longer present, one of which was definitely cut down relatively recently by campers and was left just laying in the lake at the landing. Up the hill to the north is the fire grate area. There is some pretty bad erosion occurring behind the fire grate because previous visitors decided they'd cut down a bunch of trees to create a view of the lake (this site is not lacking in naturally-occurring views), and now there is very little holding the soil together on that slope. A trail up into the woods north of the fire grate area leads to some more sheltered tent pads as well as a nice overlook beyond that. This site has a great location and nice features, but I find myself removing a star because it is just way bigger than it should be with far too much clearing and abuse shaping it into a monstrosity more like what you'd find in a state park than what should be found in a wilderness.

Great site, great fire pit area. The view is amazing. Perfect place for a hammock right on the edge of the hill to the water. Fishing good as well.

Nice site, good elevations with enough trees to keep the east wind from whipping the site but still blow the bugs away. Our group of 8 used both the lower and upper areas for tent sites and more than enough room for 4 tents and 4 hammocks. Good trees for a camp tarp by the kitchen in the event of rain. Good kitchen area in the upper area. Shore is rocky but has decent landing sites and our 3 boats has plenty of lay down space. We slayed the smallies from shore. Good day hiking close by. Stair step can be a beast of you are a heavy packer or are not in decent shape.

Amazing campsite! It is very large plenty of tent sites for multiple tents and it is for the most part flat. Plenty of drift wood gets washed up along the shore and spectacular views of the bluffs. You can fall asleep listening to the water fall which is very relaxing. Only down fall is we saw our fair share of half burnt beer cans and garbage from previous guest visits. The toilet sits far enough back too with plenty of bear trees, we had to do a little bush whacking to get to the trees though....should be 5 stars but the trash dropped it down a notch

This site is very large, with a good hike to the kitchen area. Plenty of hammock options, including a nice one by the kitchen. The kitchen overlooks the lake on top of a nice bluff. The landing is rocky, but easily navigated.
