Upon finishing the portage from Elizabeth, we were faced with 25 mph south winds, huge waves, and whitecaps on Walter Lake. We bushwhacked from the portage to this site. It hasn't been used much lately, which is actually quite nice! Lots of grass on the site and plenty of firewood in the red pines. Lots of blackflies though. Would stay here again if faced with the same situation. EDIT: I was on the lake in July 2025 and looked at most of the other sites, especially those on the south end. I gave up on them, and paddled back to this site. Aside from the flies, the site grew on me. it is the best site on the lake and should be taken! land the boats on the west side, down a trail from camp. The flies like movement! Grab yourselves a chair on the rock point and sit still and enjoy the view!

Slippery boulder takeout. Large site in the pines. Tent pads didn't seem quite level.
