This portage was a complete mess when I went through in August of 2023. It required a lot of crawling and climbing over trees. The last fire in 2021 was not as intense as the other portages, so many standing dead trees that are now falling over. When heading east, I started to mark and clear the trail, but gave up. Too many trees for just a handsaw. The Park with a chainsaw, or someone with more time will have to clear it. I did build rock cairns at both ends so you can at least know where to start. Strangely, I found a pair of hiking boots at the east entrance?
