Entry Point:38 - Sawbill Lake (BWCA)
Type:Canoeing
Lakes:Alton, Sawbill

We left the Hungry Hippie Hostel in Grand Marais on the 30th after spending the night there. We headed to the entry point and launched off with winds to our backs. Sawbill was easy to navigate, but with my friend never being in a canoe other than a few times at camp years ago we poked along.

We hit the easy portage to Alton and were greeted with white caps. We quickly hauled it across the lake to the first campsite we could find and found it occupied. We headed south to the next one and found it empty. We set up camp and relaxed fir the remainder of the evening. Supper was cooked and books were read by the lake with many bugs joining us.

We woke up the next morning and saw garbage weather heading our way. We quickly ate breakfast and noticed a fisher staring at us from the woods (no, not a human fisher). Camp was packed up and we reversed our path to the entry point. Just as we arrived it began to down pour. Great timing! Bought souveniers at the outfitter and headed back to town.
