Oaks
Quercus

Oaks are uncommon in the BWCA which is why I am lumping them all into one page. They historically haven't existed in the BWCA except in very limited pockets. A lot of science is pointing towards them gradually becoming more common in the future. Oaks are usually scattered when found in the BWCA, though in a few places, they dominate (such as the route coming in to the South of Pipestone Bay.) They are usually stunted and slow growing. When they do exist, the provide a unique and benificial food source for dozens of wildlife species.
