We literally paddled all around iron lake looking for a good camp site before we settled on this one. Most of the other sites had no shade at all, so the little shade this one offered was welcomed. It's a bit of a haul to get the gear up from the landing, but it ended up being worth it. The elevated site had a nice warm breeze going all night long. We just left the tent door open for maximum ventilation. (It was September, and froze a couple nights before, so there were no bugs.) We ended up choosing poorly for hanging the food bag, and the entire tree drooped down overnight, leaving the bag bouncing about 2 feet off the ground. There were no bears around, luckily, so that height just kept the chipmunks out, which was good enough. It gave us quite the laugh when we discovered what happened. Dinner was a couple of fish my wife caught not far from the camp site.

west facing site on a hill with some exposed stone, best pads are up the hill, lots of big pines, blueberries. Large flat rock landing. Fire pit faces west over a nook in the shore that collects warm water for a swim, just watch the snappers. Easy paddle to see Rebecca Falls ps: watch for the grouse who thinks he owns the john

We enjoyed this site for several days in July of 2017. It is one of those multi level sites. There is an very good landing rock and it is fairly large and would be good for 270 degrees of star gazing. It was large enough to erect my 9 X 9 NEMO Bugout screen tent with plenty of room to spare. The next level up is the fire grate and it was very nice. It is under some very nice white pines which offers lots of shade. There is some good seating logs also. The third level is your bedroom area. It has 2 fairly level tent pads. We put 2 4 man tents there without any problem. I'm sure we could of found an area for a few 2 man tents if you had to. We caught a few fish from shore but had much better luck on the north side of the island using leaches on slip bobbers. Can't remember the trail to the lew.

Beautiful site particularly after doing entire length of Crooked. Took a layover day here. Great close to water pads.

Nice site in a busy location where all the traffic passes through. Good canoe landing options and a great fire area looking to the west. Site is heavily used and was in need of some clean-up when we stayed there.

Very large and open, lots of space and pads, lots of places to distance your tent, excellent big site.
