This is by far, in my opinion, the best campsite on Polly Lake.
The landing is a narrow strip of sand, making it very easy to land a canoe. Swimming should be good here due to the sandy bottom.
The kitchen area is fairly open but surrounded by cedars that provide wind protection while still allowing a breeze through. I counted at least seven good tent pads and could easily find room for more. Paddle Planner caps at nine maximum tents, and this site could meet or exceed that.
Some tent pads are shaded while others are in the sun, giving flexibility depending on conditions. The view from the kitchen is decent, though partially screened by trees.

A very large site with relatively seclusion for the main body of this popular lake. Even in late September most sites were occupied but this site was sheltered from public scrutiny other than paddlers passing by to see if it was available. We'll used, a lot of stupid damage to trees and no firewood on the island. Large area east of kitchen/landing for a couple large tents and some more secluded spots in the interior of the island. Rating it 3 due to overuse by people who don't take LNT seriously but those who treat the site gently will be rewarded by the large pines that shelter the island.

Stopped at this sight to swim, the folks camping there had just left. Weather was very hot for time of the year. Daughter 9 and I floated and swam around out front of site. The actually site is very nice. Wanted the sight but settled for one a bit farther.

Nice island site. Good fire grate/kitchen area. Good landing and swimming spot. Polly is a popular lake so you will see plenty of canoes.
Paddled to a small burnt over island in the eastern end of the lake and it was covered with blue berries.

Nice site - a bit of traffic due to entry point from south.

Thanks goodness we had trusty 20x40 tarp we were able to block the wind and still cover the fire grate in case of rain. We stayed here two nights on the way to Malberg and one night on our way out. Tents site are ok but if you have a large crew you may be cramped. We pitched our six man tent (our's was crew of 4) east of the fire grate. We didn’t catch any fish at the site but did in the cove west of the site. There is a small beach at the landing which made for easy landing and also a great place walk out into the water for a swim. This has become the hottest year that can remember at this time of the year since I've been coming to BWCA.

We were there with 8 guys, two large tents and we were able to squeeze them in side by side. So 3 smaller tents should be no problem. This island site is nice and we even heard some wolves howling in the distance.
