It is a very steep climb up to Ahmakose, but the reward is one of the pretties little lakes in the BWCA. It's too bad there are no campsites here. There are large rocks at both ends that don't help with loading and unloading, but aren't as bad as some portages, either. The landing on Gerund is pretty subtle, but anyone going that was has likely just come from Fraser, so they're just hugging the shore, anyway.

Steep climb up to Ahmakose Lake over a rocky path. Has a neat stone stairway to aid in the traverse.
